AdBrite Review
10th of August' 2005
A few days back, I started my search for AdSense alternatives.
Not that I hate BIG companies. Trust me, I haven't even started
disliking MicroSoft yet ;) It's just that there are times when
the mainstream solutions simply won't deliver.
Of the findings, AdBrite
is a striking one. Not only does it provide you with a large
number of network ads to run, but also allows you to sell your
advertising space directly to the advertisers, at your specified
rates, only sharing a piece of the cake with them. The latter
is the only option you have, and not a bad one, if you are trying
to run it simultaneously with AdSense.
The process starts with you creating an advertising zone within
your website. Give it a meaningful name, limit the number of
ads to display and fix the price for spans that last 1-day,
7-days and 30-days. With advertising spans as short as 1-day,
prospective advertisers are encouraged to try the click through
rate they get from your website. Not to forget that AdBrite
is extremely useful for the advertiser when it comes to identifying
niche websites. This has been explained in AdBrite
For Advertisers article. So, if your website holds first
rated content and attracts quality traffic, getting in touch
with a few relevant advertisers that you can work with on long-term
basis won't be rare to happen.
Selling advertising space directly to your visitors sounds much
more challenging than "paste this code and see the magic".
Fine, those solutions also work out, but life gets much more
interesting when you:
- Set your own prices.
- Approve or decline applications for displaying ads.
- Can actually see what percentage of advertisers are you able
to retain.
- Work on improving statistical ratios, thereby making your
website even more appealing to advertisers.
This does give you a feel of doing some real business and building
equity. And one BIG motivating factor is AdBrite's affiliate
program. Spread the word about their cool solution and you get
rewarded. You get to keep up to 50% of the revenue that your
referred webmaster brings in for first three months, and 10%
to follow for next 9 months. Too bad, you can not claim the
revenue throughout his lifetime. But if you are able to refer
new sign-ups every month, you are at least creating decent residual
income, which in this industry is hard to gain.
